Unity - Laila (Walton) Winship, 79, died Saturday, December 16, 1972, at a Waterville nursing home following a long illness. She was born in Washburn June 3, 1893, the daughter of Nicholas and Edith (Moran) Walton.
She had been a resident of this community for the greater part of her life. She graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, in 1915. She was a member of the Thorndike Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Floyd, of Unity; three 3 sons, Robert of Unity, Hershell of Dover, NH, Harold of Register, GA; one daughter, Phyllis Williamson of Dixfield; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday at the Donald Shorey Funeral Chapel in Pittsfield 2-4 and 7-8 pm.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Quaker Hill Church in Unity with the Rev. S. G. Hilyard of Fairfield officiating. Bearers were Merton Reynolds, Harold Plumley, Donald Walton, Kermit Walton, Charles Murch and Franklin Dalzell.
