Professional Hockey Player, Broadcaster. He played 203 games in the National Hockey League. After signing New York Rangers as a free agent in 1949, he played two seasons with them. Traded to the Boston Bruins with Pentti Lund for Paul Ronty in 1951, he would go on to lead the NHL with 127 in penalty minutes. He was eventually sent down to the minor leagues, playing with the Calgary Stampeders until 1957 when he started coaching. He coached of the Stampeders until 1961, then moved on to the St. Louis Braves in 1962 (the Braves were a Chicago Blackhawks minor league team that featured a young future Hall of Famer Phil Esposito). When the St. Louis Blues entered the league in 1967, he switched to broadcasting for the team, First paired with the legendary Jack Buck, he later teamed up with Dan Kelly for 16 years. His signature line during intense gameplay action was "It's a real barn burner!" After he died of heart problems, his body was donated to a local medical school.
