Major League Baseball Player. Born Robert Herbert Forsch, he pitched for the St Louis Cardinals (1974 to 1988) and the Houston Astros (1988 to 1989). During his 16-year career, he recorded 168 wins with 1,133 strikeouts and a 3.76 earned run average. His best year was in 1977 when he won 20 games with only seven losses and an earned run average of 3.48. He was one of the few pitchers in the Major Leagues to have thrown two no-hitters, the first one against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 16, 1978 and the second one against the Montreal Expos on September 26, 1983. His no-hitters were the only ones ever pitched in the St Louis Cardinal's former ballpark, Busch Memorial Stadium. He pitched for the National League pennant-winning Cardinals of 1985 and 1987, and the 1982 World Series champion Cardinals. Offensively, he was one of the better hitting pitchers in the Major Leagues with 12 home runs with a .213 batting average during his career, which earned him a Silver Slugger award for National League pitchers in 1980 and 1987. He is a brother to former Houston Astros pitcher Ken Forsch.
