Dwindled away at the the end of "Wheel of Fortune" during the last puzzle "Youth Group".
Obit as we wanted it to appear in local papers. They either edited or spelled the names wrong.
Ruth Cook of Chatham dwindled off during the last puzzle of Wheel of Fortune on Tuesday November 11, 2008. She was born in Providence Rhode Island to the late Charles Edward and Sedwell Ann Chrystie on November 30, 1923.
She grew up in Drexel Hill a suburb of Philadelphia and graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1942. She married Eurene Francis Moore in 1943 and followed her husband around the Army camps during WW2. They settled in Drexel Hill and had 2 children, Cynthia and Gerald David. They moved to Chatham in 1961 and ran a coffee and doughnut shop behind the Chatham Post Office for three years. They divorced in 1964 and Ruth married Jackson H Cook on Christmas day. She worked as his bookkeeper in Chatham Marine Electronics for ten years. In 1979 after being widowed she began a new adventure in her life and worked in accounting at Cape Cod Bank and Trust. She loved the work and the people. She retired in 1991 to enjoy her counted cross stitch and needle point and knitting sweaters. She loved flowers and the sea and sailing- her favorite spots on the Cape were the parking lot of Chatham Light, Race Point in Provincetown and Scargo Hill in Dennis.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Moore , her son Gerald David Moore and his wife Karen, their daughter Chelsea Elizabeth all of Chatham and son Joseph Sartin and his wife Adina and their children Seamus, Bodhi Oak, Alia and Alexander from Kansas, Ruth's brother Bob Chrystie and his wife Sally of Ocala Florida and Ruth's brother Roger Chrystie and his partner Mary Flaig, and Roger's sons , Stephen, Thomas, and Addison and her cat Dorian Grey. She was predeceased by her two husbands and two cats, Nucha and Autumn Sonata
Ruth admired the bravery and service of the Chatham Police and the Chatham Fire and Rescue . In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to those two associations
The family would like to thank Dr Thomas Halliday for always being there when Ruth needed him. And the Visiting Nurses Association of Cape Cod for their care , comfort and attendance in Ruth's final days.
A public graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2 in the afternoon at Seaside Cemetery in Chatham. All friends and family are invited. If you cannot attend- next time you have a dry martini straight up with 2 olives- think of Ruth.
