Amos P. Buck was a respected old resident of Waupaca. He first settled in Oshkosh when that city was a little village called Algoma.
He was an old soldier, having been a member of Co B, 38th Wisconsin, and served from the spring of 1863 [1864] until the close of the war, under Burnside of the 9th Corps, Army of the Potomac.
The funeral and burial will take place Sunday, at 1pm with military honors by the Garfield Post No. 21, of which he was a member.
He leaves a wife and several grown up sons and daughters besides a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He was in the 63d year of his life.

GAR FUNERAL
The funeral of the late Amos P. Buck was largely attended at the M.E. Church Sunday, p.m. The member of the Garfield Post attended in a body in uniform, and performed the last sad rites of burial, according to the rules of that noble order of veterans. The funeral sermon on the occasion, by Rev Perry Millar, was filled with good thoughts for reflection.
In the brief biography it was noted that Mr and Mrs Buck were the first couple married in Winnebago County. They moved to Waupaca in 1865. A large concourse of people besides the mourning friends, in carriages and on foot, followed the remains to the cemetery.

Died - on Thursday, 9 May 1889, of general debility, Amos Buck, aged 62.
Amos Buck has been a resident of this city and vicinity since 1855, and was known to all old residents. He has followed the carpenter's trade during the most of the time since moving here, except while in the Army during the war of the rebellion. He enlisted in Co B, 38th Wisconsin Volunteers in the spring of 1864 and served honorably to the end of the war, and while there contracted a chronic climatic disease which has made him an invalid every since. For the past four or five years he has been gradually failing in health and for the last year has performed no manual labor, since Christmas being confined to the house. He leaves a large family of children and grandchildren and a wife to mourn his death.
