Burkhead, Well Known Man, Succumbs After Long IllnessWAS 58 YEARS OLDSpanish-American War Veteran - Funeral Will Be Sunday Afternoon After an illness of several years from hardening of the arteries and paralysis, Green Sewell Burkhead, well known blacksmith of the city, died yesterday at 4:04 o'clock at the family home on South Thirteenth street. Mr. Burkhead was a native of this county, being born in Washington township, September 10, 1858. Had he lived until next September 10, he would have been fifty-nine years old. He was a son of John B. and Anna Burkhead, pioneer residents of the county. Mr. Burkhead leaves two sons by his first marriage, they being James C. Burkhead of this city and John, of Indianapolis; a son, Dorsie, of Huntington, from the second marriage, and the widow, formerly Lillie May Sells. Brothers and sisters are Mahalabel T. Burkhead, Mary M. Burr, Sarah E. Johnston, Martha C. Beery, of this city; M. F. Burkhead, Oklahoma; Drusilla E. Miller, Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. Burkhead was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He was a member of the United Brethren church and of the Maccabee lodge. The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the United Brethren church with the Rev. Herman in charge. MACCABEES NOTICE All Maccabees are requested to meet this evening at 7:30 o'clock to make arrangements to attend the funeral of Sir Knight Green S.
