Respected Sir:

Having noticed that you attend to see matters connected with deceased soldiers &c I at once appeal to you to aid in the case of my son Amos A. Akers, who enlisted in the militia states service on the 2d day of August 1862, Camp Piqua. I lost sight of him then for a long time being absent all the time traveling when at Anderson Georgia I heard from him he was still on the move, the last letter I received from him he was taken prisoner at the Chickamaqua on the 19th Sept. 1863 and was sent to Richmond. On the 12th of December they were sent to Danville Va. and on the 13 of April they were sent to Anderson Georgia which is the last account of him I have.

I have written to his Captain Wm. H. Snider Co. F, 94 Regt O.V.I. he answers that since the Battle of the 1st day at Chickamaqua he has not him seen either killed or taken prisoner at the Libby Prison at Richmond. I wish you would write to me and let me know all about it or at least if any thing can be done. I [*unclear*] I have given you all particulars in regard to this matter. If there is any thing more desired I can inform you after I hear. If there is any more proof needed &c I remain truly yours &c in Haste

I certify, on honor, that Amos A. Akers, a Private of Lieut. William D. Putnams Company (F) of the 94 Regiment of Infantry Volunteers, of the State of Ohio, born in Fulton County State of Pennsylvania, aged 23 years; 5 feet 9 1/2 inches high; Dark complexion, Dark eyes, Dark hair, and by occupation a Laborer, who joined for service and was enrolled (see Note 9) on the 26th day of July, 1862, at Greenville, Ohio by Lieut. Fornbison*, for the period of three years, and mustered into the service of the United States on the 23d day of August, 1862, at Piqua Ohio, by Capt Drake; and having served Honestly and Faithfully with his Company to the present date, is now entitled to a discharge by reason of Death - Died June 10, 1864 at Andersonville Ga. while Prisoner of war of diarrhea.
