John Olguin, Mr. San Pedro, Citizen of the Century, the Do It! Do it! Man, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011. John worked tirelessly for the Cabrillo Aquarium, the Point Fermin Lighthouse, the Salvation Army, the Whale Watch Programs, Beacon House, the First Presbyterian Church of San Pedro. He is survived by Muriel, his wife of 62 years; his daughters, Vi Olguin, Moni Olguin Patten; his son, John Cabrillo; his four grandchildren, Micah, Tenaya, Molly and Michelle; four siblings, Dr. Leonard Olguin, Albert Olguin, Esther Olguin Riggs and Belia Olguin Smith and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. John will be remembered as a man who loved San Pedro, the ocean, and his family. A public memorial will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
