Margaret Muir Irvine, 92, passed away Feb. 16, 2007, at Century Village in Manhattan. She was born June 7, 1914, to Katherine and Ellis Murray on their homestead at Henry's Lake, Idaho. She attended elementary school in West Yellowstone and high schools in Bozeman and Manhattan.
She met Dick Muir in West Yellowstone, and they were married Sept. 17, 1932, in Livingston. They lived in Salmon, Idaho, Manhattan, and on the Madison. In 1940, they bought a ranch east of Manhattan where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle.
Margaret worked as a hot lunch cook in the Manhattan School for seven years. They also enjoyed square dancing with their friends during those years. They retired in 1970 and moved just out of Manhattan until Dick's death in 1972.
Margaret then married Norm Irvine in 1973. They lived north of Belgrade and in Arizona. They divorced, and she moved to Three Forks where she was active in the Senior Center and RSVP. She moved to Manhattan in 2005.
Margaret always enjoyed raising and taking care of large and small animals, fish, and birds. She always looked forward to having an adventure.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Muir and Norm Irvine; sister, Lottie Bloom; nephew, Del Bloom; grandson, Dan Reich; and good friend, Peck Bacon.
Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Jim Reich of Manhattan, and Carol and John Holland of Prescott, Ariz.; granddaughter, Denise Libby of Three Forks; grandsons, Troy and Lance Biering of Anchorage, Alaska; nephew, Mel and Nancy Bloom of Libby; niece, Lorraine Barkoff of Hobson; and seven great-grandchildren, as well as special friends, Betty and Richard Wilcox.
Cremation will take place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery in Belgrade. Inurnment will take place later at Meadowview Cemetery in Manhattan.
