Oliver Campbell, superintendent of schools in Manhattan, died Saturday at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. He was 85.
He was born at Iron River, Wisconsin, April 17, 1895, to Oliver and Delia (Broderick) Campbell.
He attended schools in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1919.
He taught school and coached in Bonners Ferry for three years, then moved to Victor, Mont., for two years as superintendent of schools.
In 1924, he came to Manhattan and served as superintendent of schools for 26 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Bagdad Shrine, Butte, Montana Professional Photographers Assoc. and the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Cecil Sue of Manhattan; a son, Don Campbell of Helena, a daughter, Darlene Martinson of Great Falls and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Manhattan Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery, Manhattan.
