J.H. Eversole died last Thursday (17 May 1917) from cancer. John Horatio Eversole was born near Mitchell, IN 11 April 1856. Married Mary A. McNab on 12 Nov 1878. Age 60y 01m 6d old. Eight children five of whom survive. Burial in Rossville Cemetery on 19 May. The Eversoles first came to Kansas in 1884, locating in Marion County at Peabody where they remained until 1908 when they moved to Lowell, AR. After living there nine years they came to Rossville. Surviving members of his family beside his widow are, Mrs. J.H. Roush, of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. L.P. Hartzell, George Eversole and Gladys Eversole of Rossville, and John J. Eversole of Pocatello, ID.
