John was the son of John Insworth and Elizabeth (Lingle) Eversole who married 03 May 1827 in Clark county, OH. John married Mary Ann McNabb on 12 Nov 1878 in Lawrence county, IN. They were the parents of eight children; Julia Miranda, twin girls Eddie (died at birth) and Nettie M., Grace E., John Jacob, George Washington, Gladys Ernestine Eversole and one unknown who died young.

Surviving members of his family beside his widow are, Mrs. J.H. Roush, of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. L.P. Hartzell, George Eversole and Gladys Eversole of Rossville, and John J. Eversole of Pocatello, ID.
