Edith was born in Ridge Farm, IL, the daughter of the late George and Nettie (Morris) Breysacher. She married Charles J. "Joy" Beck. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1964.
Edith was a telephone operator for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. After her retirement, she was able to do a lot of traveling and had gone on several tours with the YWCA after her husband's death. She enjoyed cooking and was especially known for her delicious pies, fudge and homemade soup. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles to exercise her mind. She was featured in the Chronicle-Tribune on her 100th and 104th birthday celebrations.
Survivors include son, Robert J. Beck (Lillian) of Altamonte Springs, FL; nephew, Tom (Beth)Bohlsen, Greenwood, IN, cousin, Vera Brown, Marion; and caretakers, Barbara Eib, Ron and Ramona Brooks, all of Marion.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Breysacher and three sisters, Beatrice Dailey, Joyce Lane and Ethel Bohlsen.
