Clarence served as a Private in the 323rd Infantry Regiment of the 81st Infantry ("Wildcat") Division during World War One. The Division participated in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918.
He is buried in his grandmother Martha Adlaind Glenn's plot, near his parents and several siblings. His marker was raised and reset by the "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery" in December 2015.
