Patrick, who worked as a printer, married Mary Ann Toler in Richmond on 12 May 1829. He served in Capt. Christopher Andrews's Company, 2nd (Brent's) Regiment, of District of Columbia Militia in the War of 1812.

He died age 56, per Cemetery records, though 1850 Census records suggest he would have been age 64 or 65 at his death. His grave in the Lyddane/Toler plot, near his wife, was marked in 2022 through the efforts of descendants, and of the "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery".
