Born and raised in Turlock, she worked for the Soderquist Hatchery and then later in the food service department for the Turlock School District. She worked at Wakefield Elementary School which was named after her father, Swan Wakefield.
She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Turlock. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens club and Turlock Historical Society.
Aneighta enjoyed crocheting, gardening and camping.
She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edgar J. Downing in 1961 and her 2nd husband, Donald G. Phillips, who passed away in 2002.
She is survived by her son, Harold Downing of Turlock; daughter, Marvel Greene of Pleasanton and her brother, Lloyd Wakefield of Livermore. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7PM, Thursday Dec. 7, 2006 at Turlock Funeral Home.
A funeral will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Turlock. Burial will be private at Turlock Memorial Park.
