Elihu was the son of Green Berry MAY and Clarenda TULLUS.

He married:
(1) Serena Evaline SARTIN on 04 Oct 1865 in Lawrence County MS. They had eight children: James Lee, Lucretia (Lula), Lillian Blanch, Amanda Elizabeth, William Frederick, John Sidney, Robert Ernest & Ethel Burt MAY.
(2) Katie Ophelia THOMPSON on 30 Jun 1899 in Brookhaven, Lincoln County MS.

Elihue was a Mail Carrier, operated a Boarding House and a Farmer. He served in the Civil War, CSA, 33rd MS Regiment under Lt John MAY.

DEATH OF ELIHU MAY - Mr. Elihu May fell asleep at his country residence on Sunday last. The funeral services were conducted Monday at Union Hall, in which neighborhood he had resided for many years. Mr. May was more than seventy years of age and the last of his family, save one, Mr. John May, a brother, residing in Brookhaven. He leaves, beside his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Lulu Nicholson and Mrs. Jess Loving, and two sons, Messrs. Lee and Robert May, who are residents here.
Elihu was the son of Green Berry MAY and Clarenda TULLUS.
