Murder Victim. Conner Peterson was the unborn son of Laci Peterson, the Modesto, California, woman who disappeared from her home on Christmas Eve of 2002. The disappearance was covered in highly-publicized national media, including episodes of "America's Most Wanted." In April of 2003, remains of a woman and a fetus were found on a beach in the area of Richmond, California. After a few days of DNA testing and the arrest of Laci's husband Scott Peterson, it was announced on April 18, 2003, that the remains found were indeed those of Laci and her son Conner. After a trial, Scott Peterson was found guilty of first-degree murder of Laci and second-degree murder of Conner. Originally sentenced to death, Scott's sentencing was overturned for a life sentence. Mother and son are buried together.
