After his discharge established the 'Cecil Gowen Welding & Blacksmithing' at Meridan in Idaho, so he was not in competition with his father's blacksmith shop.
He and his father had a speaking acquaintance, but were never friends after
he left his fathers 'Gowen Blacksmith Shop'
in Nampa after a dispute over wages.
