On 9 March 1774 William Gowen, of Sanford, bought property on Sturgeon Creek in Kittery from his half-brother, James Gowen of Falmouth.
On 1 March 1781 Willam Gowen conveyed
the 'Iron Works Lot' to his son, Stephen.
