Elwood a son of Joseph and Caroline Spencer Kennedy natives of North Carolina he was born in Morgan County Indiana a member of the friends church and attending the friends school in 1898 he with his father moved to Marion county Indiana where his brothers was building new houses on west 27 west 28 and 29th streets in Indianapolis he worked as a labor and was a carpenter by trade Married 1st Ella N. Dismore April 20,1902 Married 2nd June 1912 in Indianapolis to Emma L. "Jack" Partlow a d/o Eliza McCartney and Levi Baxter Jack, Adopted by Edward Partlow in 1898. both times he married in Marion County Indiana by 1920 he had moved north of Crown Hill cemetery on 56th street by Michigan road where the family remained.
