John terTelgte, 54, retired Manhattan rancher, died Wednesday at the Bozeman Deaconess hospital following a lingering illness. He was born July 18, 1904, in Granum, Alberta, Canada, son of John terTelgte and Fanny Williamson. He came to Montana in 1913 to Manhattan where he had since lived. He married Winnie Ypma on March 11, 1929, at Manhattan. Survivors include his widow and five children: Mrs. Raymond (Elsie) Carpenter, John Henry terTelgte, Edwin terTelgte, Florence terTelgte and Althea terTelgte, all of Manhattan; one grandson; one brother, Henry of Sunnyside, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Rika) Collen, Madras, Ore., and Mrs. John (Alice) Droge, Manhattan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Manhattan Bible church Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Meadowview Cemetery at Manhattan. The remains will lie in state at the church from Saturday at 1 p.m. until time of services. Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
