OBITUARY

"Roy Elbert Rice
Roy Elbert Rice of Grand Prairie, a retired machinist for Gifford-Hill American Pipe Co. died Sunday at Dallas-Fort Worth Medical Center after a lenghty illness. He was 57.
Services were set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bowles Memorial Baptist Church in Grand Prairie with burial at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Rev. Merle Self and the Rev. A.J. Jorgensen officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Raymond David William Cobb, Frank Cobb, Joe Weller, J.D. Wollery, Steve Ladd, Bailey Butts and Fred Parror.
He served in the Army in World War II and received several medals. He was a master mason and a member of the Sam R. Hamilton Masonic Lodge in Grand Prairie. He had been a Grand Prairie resident the past 31 years. He was a Sunday school superintendent and a deacon at Bowles Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Billie of Grand Prairie; one son Elbert Rice of Grand Prairie; one daughter, Mrs. Pam Mitchell of Grand Prairie; one brother, Coy Rice of Grand Prairie; five sisters Mrs. Ila Mae Money, Mrs. Juanita Minchew and Mrs. Evelyn Waggoner, all of Grand Prairie, and Mrs. Kate Self of Dallas and Mrs. Margaret Smith of Rusk; and three grandchildren."
