George S. Andrus served his country as a PFC in the United States Army during World War II. In 1955 his life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in Northern California at the age of 32.

In 2011, a local Frenchman found a dog tag belonging to Mr. Andrus in a forest near the Brittany American Cemetery in France. The cemetery Superintendent found this Find-a-Grave memorial and contacted me in an effort to locate surviving family. I put him in touch with Jim & Kathie Hardy, (Jim is George's nephew) after I found their information on a genealogy website. The dog tag has now been returned to the family of Mr. Andrus, approximately 70 years after it was lost during World War II.
