Gospel Singer. He was a member of the famed gospel singing quartet, The Dixie Hummingbirds. Walker joined the quartet in 1952 and stayed until his death in 1992. As a member, he distinguished himself as part of the group through his vocal talents. Together with such gospel musical talents as Willie Bobo, Howard Carroll, Ira Tucker, James B. Davis, the late Beachy Thompson, and Paul Owens, he led the Dixie Hummingbirds through some of gospel music's greatest recordings including "Let's Go Out To The Programs", and "Nobody Knows The Trouble I See." They are best known for their background vocal activity throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Walker himself, is also noted for his work with The Highway Q.C.'s, The Golden Gate Quartet, The Harmonizing Four, and The Southern Sons. As a composer, his credited work includes the recordings, "Touch Me Lord", and "Let Us Praise", among several others. A veteran of the Korean War, Walker served in the United States Army.
