Miss Gertrude Mattingly, daughter of Wm. Ramond Mattingly, died at the home of her uncle, George Hamilton, after a brief illness of typhoid fever, last Thursday night, September 28, 1905.
Deceased was an estimable lady and one of most popular teachers in the county. She possessed a happy disposition and won the hearts of all with whom she came in contact. Her funeral was conducted at St. Augustine's church last Saturday morning, services by Very Rev. J. A. Hogarty, after which her remains were interred in St. Augustine's cemetery. A long list of friends extend heartfelt sympathy to her bereaved family.
NOTE: Gertrude's mother was Mary E. (Mattingly) Mattingly. Her brother, John Raymond Mattingly, 1881-1957, is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Loisville, Jefferson County, KY.
