Joined the Marines before W.W.II.Did 30 Years in the U.S.M.C. During WWII, spent 4 yrs. in South Pacific & China. Was in the campaigns of, Guadacanal, Glouster, New Britain, and Okinawa. In his last years, he traveled in his RV and lived in Florida, Texas and North Carolina.
He is greatly missed by all that knew him. For a portion of his adult life he was married to Mary Foyd (Crumpler) Appleton. His ashes were put to sea but there is a memorial stone in N.C.
