Eugene P. Jones, 68, died Wednesday, January 20, 1999, at Putnam Community Medical Center.
Born in Lula, Ga., he came to Pomona Park in 1974 after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. He had served for 23 years and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a 32nd degree Mason with membership at the masonic lodge in
Riverhead, N.Y. He also belonged to the Scottish Rite in Jacksonville, the Bass Capital Shrine Club of Crescent City, the Aahmes Temple Shrine in Oakland, Calif., and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1641 of Crescent City. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed woodcarving as a hobby in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice L. Jones of Pomona Park; brother, Douglas M. Wayne of Tiger, Ga.; sisters, Bobby J. Ledford and Jeanette Whitmire, both of Gainesville, Ga.; a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins and a special
person, Cheryl of Dallas, Ga.
Funeral services with Masonic and full military honors were held Monday, January 25, 1999, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, Ga.
Interment followed the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.
