Son of Elizabeth Skinner and Marvin F. Houser. He married Dorothy Breedlove in 1955 and they raised a family before divorcing in 1978. He subsequently remarried to Joanne.

Bruce entered the U.S. Air Force in the mid 1950s and made it his career. He honorably served for twenty years in the Air/Security Police field, and retired as a Technical Sergeant. His overseas assignments included Korea, Vietnam and Germany.

AN ASIDE: I served with then Staff Sergeant Bruce Houser when stationed at Sembach Air Base, Germany, in the latter 1960s. We both had follow-on assignments to Minot AFB, ND, in 1970. The group of ole Sembach troops still often gather and Bruce will invariably be mentioned. One of the group finally found him and paid him a visit in 2012. Bruce was in poor health but was happy to hear from old friends.
