Stanley E. Johnson, 95, of 92 Stanton St. died peacefully after a brief illness, Thursday Sept. 27 in University Commons Nursing Home.

His wife of 51 years, Ruth V. (Forsman) Johnson, died in 1995. He leaves a son, Donald S. and his wife, Judith L. Johnson; a grandson, Scott D. Johnson, and a granddaughter, Kirsten L. Johnson, all of Worcester; a sister, Esther Menanson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Roy Johnson.

Born in Worcester, son of Gustav and Hilma (Nelson) Johnson, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a 1st Sgt. in WWll, and worked for many years in the U.S. Post Office serving as postmaster of Worcester from 1958-1961.

Mr. Johnson was a former Worcester City Alderman and Councilor from 1939-1941, State Representative from 1947-1958 for the 17th Worcester District, and was an active member of the American Legion East Side 201, and the Greendale Dissabled American Veterans 319. He was a member of Svea Gille Assn., and a past Commander of the Worcester Veterans Council.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m Monday Oct. 1 in Belmont St. Baptist Church, 25 Belmont St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5-8 Sunday Sept. 30 in CASWELL - KING FUNERAL HOME, 474 Grove St.
