Michael Wayne Richards, 58, of Auburn, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in St. Vincent Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Karen (McLeod) Richards; two sons, Nathan Samuel Richards of Sebastian, FL and Christopher Michael Richards of Worcester; his daughter, Heather Marie Richards of Auburn; two sisters, Ann N. McLeod and her husband Ernie and Mary L. Richards, both of Worcester; and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Mr. Richards was born in Worcester, the son of Harold L. and Pearl G. (Thompson) Richards. He was a graduate of South High School and attended Northeastern University. Mr. Richards was a manager for the USPS for 25 years until his retirement. He served on the Worcester Fire Department and was a member of its scuba team. Mr. Richards was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of North American Martyrs Church, the American Legion Post #318 and the National Association of Postal Supervisors. Mr. Richards enjoyed cooking, gardening, deep sea fishing, football, telling jokes and trips to the ocean.

The funeral is Thursday, April 22nd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 21st from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Vietnam Veterans for the Community, Box 886, 1102 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
