(Private) Israel Osmun, Sr. moved with his family from Cayuga County, New York to Portgage (now Summit) County, Ohio in 1810. He died there after 1820. In 1819, Israel's two eldest sons, Jonathan and Israel, walked back to New York and settled in Monroe County. Israel Osmun is probably buried near his brother, Jacob, in Lot 112. Death date is estimated.

Update 04-29-2019: There is an Israel Osmun listed in the Tax Assessments (1825-1828) of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Listed next to Israel Osmun is Ezekiel Osmun.

Did Israel Osmun relocate to Cleveland? Could he also be buried in an unmarked grave in Axtell Street Cemetery (closed 1882), Cleveland, Newburgh Township (now defunct), Cuyahoga County, Ohio?

According to a letter that is dated November 15, 1961, written by Israel Osmun, Sr's great grandson, Elmer Walter Powers (1883-1968), Israel Osmun, Sr. fought in the Revolutionary War. Elmer writes,
"I remember granddad telling me many times that his father was Israel Osmun, who fought in the Revolutionary War."
