Edwin R. Wagner, 80, of 999 Chappel Dam Rd., Gladwin, died Saturday, July 7, 1990, in the Gladwin Area Hospital after a short illness. Born in Sherman Township, April 10, 1910, he had spent his lifetime here. Mr. Wagner was a pumper for various oil companies around Gladwin County for 40 years. He retired in 1988. He served as a corporal in the Army during World War II and was a life member of the Gladwin FOE 3292, the Gladwin Masonic Lodge 396 and the Gladwin County VFW 7303. He had operated the dam at Chappel Dam for the past 20 years. Mr. Wagner and the former Jeanette Pike were married April 18, 1972, in Gladwin. She preceded him in death June 25, 1983.
Surviving are one son, Rodney of Midland; one step-daughter, Mrs. Donald (Bonnie) Phillips of Shields; 3 step-sons, Max Soldan of Lafayette, La., 1st Sgt. William Rose in the Army and Gerald Rose of Gladwin, one sister, Lillie Purtee of Gladwin, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A sister, Anita Andrew preceded him in death in 1953.
Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Roger Hardy officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. A Masonice memorial service was held Monday at 7:30 p.m. and a graveside military service was held by the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303. Gladwin County Record dated 07-11/1990 Column - 3 Page - 2
