Between the evening of October 18 and the morning of October 20, 1991, Andy was kidnapped and murdered. The remains were found near the town baseball diamond. The murderer was never found despite the offer of a large monetary reward. A large black granite monument stands in the yard of the old Fleming farm where Andy was buried without ceremony by Gene Fleming.
