Widow of Pioneer Passed Away at Home Where She Had Lived for the Past Fifty Years.
Mrs. Annabell C. Curtis, 69, widow of William Wallace Curtis, died after a lingering illness at her ranch home about two miles south of Central Park, Friday morning at eleven o'clock. Arrangements have not been made for the funeral, but burial will be in the Meadowview Cemetery south of Manhattan.
Mrs. Curtis was Annabell Cole. She was born in Carroll County, Missouri, November 30, 1862, and came to the Gallatin valley when she was 18 years old. She was married November 22, 1882, to William W. Curtis, an early Montana pioneer, the wedding taking place at the Gallatin Valley Female seminary at the old town of Hamilton, with the late Rev. L. G. Crittenden officiating. They located on the ranch 50 years ago, where Mr. Curtis died three years ago, and where Mrs. Curtis died Friday. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by seven children and 24 grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Irene McWaid, Bozeman; Mrs. Queen Bly, Manhattan; Mrs. Laura Ballard, Bozeman; Mrs. Ouida Campbell, Roundup; Thomas Curtis and Clyde Curtis, Manhattan, and Mrs. Mary Sales, Bozeman. She leaves two sisters and four brothers: Mrs. W. Gilbert, Clyde Park; Mrs. Ollie Bender, Livingston; Bill and Bob Cole, Livingston; Frank and Irving Cole of Glasgow, Montana.
