DAVID LEWIS BARNES DIES AT VETERANS' HOSPITAL SATURDAY

David Lewis Barnes, 30 years old, died Saturday at the Veterans' hospital in Alexandria, LA. He was a native of Vancleave and the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Barnes.

A native of Vancleave, Mr. Barnes was employed at the Ingalls Shipyard before entering the service about four years ago.

He served for three years before he became ill with tuberculosus [caused by an incident during the initiation on board the ship; le], and was sent to the United States with a medical discharge and placed under treatment at the veterans' hospital where he died.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3 p m at the Vancleave Church of Latter Day Saints by the Rev Morris L. Draker of Brewton, Ala., and interment was in the Vancleave Cemetery.

He is survived by his widow, two young daughter, Reba Jo and Caroline Louise; his parents, three brothers, J.D. Jr., Eddie W., and Willie E. Barnes' and three sisters, Mrs. Lee Entrekin, Mrs. C. M. Varnon, and Mrs. F. M. Touchstone...
