CHEEVER
G. W. Cheever was born October 31st, 1838 in the town of Clayton, Jefferson County, New York, and died April 16th, 1893, of consumption of the bowels, at his home near North Adams, Mich.
In 1865 he was married to Maggie C. Chapin. To them were born four girls and one boy, who survived him, except the eldest daughter, who died in infancy.
When a young man he taught school and at the age of twenty-four came to Michigan, Hillsdale county, town of Jefferson, where he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed in connection with the wagon maker's trade.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Osseo nearly thirty years. In 1877 he with his family removed to a farm in the town of Jefferson, and again in 1888 exchanged his farm for one in the township of Adams, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was an active, energitic business man, a kind husband and a loving father.

The funeral services conducted by Rev. H.D. Allen of Quincy, assisted by Rev. J. Whittaker, of Osseo, were held in the F.B. Church at Osseo.
His REMAINS WERE LAID TO REST BESIDE HIS PARENTS AND CHILD IN EAST HILL CEMETERY, and we that are left to mourn his loss mourn not as others without hope, for we were given the full assurance of his conversion in his last days. We feel that,
We shall meet to part no more
With our dear ones gone before
In the many mansions fair
Dwells our loved one, over there.
