He served in the U. S. Navy and was owner and operator of Berry's Electrical Service.
He was the son of the late Luke Wallace Berry and the late Louise Queenie Brown Berry. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Wallace Berry and Raymond Berry.
Survivors include his wife; Elizabeth VanValkenburgh Berry of the home; a son: Luther D. (Cindy) Berry, Jr. of Orangeburg; two daughters: Angela (Joseph P.) LaFrance of Orangeburg, Shirley (Shaun) Smith of Orangeburg; seven grandchildren: Destiny, Alex, Joey, Luke, Lena, Tori and Kayla; sister: Tammy (Richard) VanValkenburgh of Orangeburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 5:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2014 with Rev. Darryl Boyleston officiating. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg assisted the family.
In Lieu of flowers the family requested that memorials be made to Branchville Volunteer Fire Department.
