Born in Kansas City, MO, August 28, 1981, he was a son of Michael Gilbert Behringer and Rose Lee Duff Forrer. He was active duty South Carolina National Guard, having enlisted full-time March 2000. He served two tours in Iraq from 2003-2004 and from 2010-2011.
Surviving in addition to his wife of twelve years of the home are four children: Dylan Bottorff, Erika Behringer, Nicole Behringer and Sarah Behringer, all of the home; mother and step-father Eric of Grants Pass, OR; father and step-mother Carmen of Butler, MO; maternal grandmother: Mary Duff; paternal grandmother: Lulla Mae Cox; brothers: Jamie (Mary) Arnold, Joshua Behringer, Kyle Behringer and Brett Behringer; sister: Tauncy Behringer and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 6:00 PM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Captain Brian K. Hopkins officiating. Honorary escort will be all active and retired members of the South Carolina National Guard. The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to SSG Joseph G. Behringer Memorial Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank to support local South Carolina National Guard Soldiers.
