He was a retired purchasing agent from Fluor Daniel Construction Co. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a volunteer and former vice president of the board of directors for the Samaritan House of Orangeburg. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving four years.

He was a son of the late Fred Cole and Dianne Tobias. Surviving are his wife, Harriet Williams Cole of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kristina (Kristy) and Hayden Inabinet of St. Matthews; foster son, Alvin K. Carter and wife Tina of Cameron; a sister, Sally Oberprillar of Cailfornia; six grandchildren, Vallie and Logan Inabinet & Kirk, Niki, Kayla and Ikel Carter.
