He married Margaret Stevens Spradlin on January, 26th, 1965 in the Panama Canal Zone where he was a Canal Zone policeman. He relocated to San Diego, California, as a Special Agent with the U. S. Customs Service. He retired in 1996 after 31 years of service to his country and settled in Tallahassee, Florida in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Woodrow Spradlin. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stevens Spradlin; daughter, Tracy Spradlin McQuillen (Kurt) of Jacksonville; sons, Brett Spradlin (Sandee) of Tallahassee, John Spradlin of Tallahassee and Ryan Spradlin (Janet) of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and two step grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived by his two sisters, Tannis Spradlin Lawyer (Robert) of Gilbert, Arizona and Reinita Spradlin Morris of Richmond, Texas.
