Mr. Bowman was a member of the SC Army National Guard also serving active duty during The Second Gulf War. He was a former corporal with the Columbia Police Department, and also served as a sergeant with the USC Campus Police.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Hopkins Bowman; daughters, Sandra (Jeffrey) Lawrence, Lori (Jimmie) Pittman, Shelly Farrell, Savannah (William) Apperson; son, Donald (Carla) Price; grandchildren, Savannah Apperson, Amber Price, Zachary Pittman, Trenton Pittman, Collin Gerhard, Carter Gerhard, Ben Lawrence, Rachel Fry; sister, Diane Kendall; brothers, Mark Bowman, and Lee Bowman.
The funeral service for Mr. Bowman was held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, August 10th at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Jerry Long and The Rev. Greg Amo officiating. Interment was held at 12 o'clock, Monday, August 12th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family received friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home of Columbia, 5250 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Memorials may be made to Sarcoma Warriors, P.O.
