He lived life to the fullest in every way possible. From his time with the South Carolina Highway Patrol to his passion of skydiving, not a day passed when Pete didn't meet life with full force. He served as a patrolman for the Bamberg Police Department from 1973 until 1978. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Francis Marion University.
He served the South Carolina Highway Patrol as a State Trooper from 1978 through 1990. From 1990 until 1995, he worked as a Probation Officer in Probation, Parole and Pardon Services. In 1995, he was appointed Chief Inspector for the Office of Professional Responsibility for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and stayed there until 2000. From 2000 until 2003, he served as the Associate Director for the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Skydive Carolinas provided his final adventure. There, he lived out his love for sky-diving and instructed numerous students in the sport. He encouraged and mentored numerous lives and leaves behind an enduring legacy. We will forever miss his smile that would light up the room. His loss is and will be felt for many years to come.
His memorial service took place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel in Columbia.
