Belvedere, SC — Mr. Rodger E. Edmonds, 69, entered into rest April 25, 2016. He was a native of Greenwood, South Carolina, having made Belvedere his home for the past 46 years. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Christopher Wayne Ray.
He was a member of Bel-Ridge Baptist Church and was a longstanding board member with the Augusta Southern Nationals Drag Boat Association. Additionally, he was a member and past president of the South Carolina Summary Court Judges Association. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam, retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol with 20 years of service and retired as Chief Magistrate Judge in Aiken County with 23 years of service. He was known for his keen sense of humor, playing jokes and being a sincere friend to many. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and could make anything work.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Becky Edmonds; two daughters, Sherry Edmonds Bragg (Timothy), Augusta, GA and Christy Edmonds Ray, Harlem, GA; two brothers, Larry Edmonds (Kathy), North Augusta, SC and David Edmonds (Tina), North Augusta, SC; a sister, Ruth Blizzard, North Augusta, SC; three grandchildren, Joshua Woodward, Jeffrey Ray and Christopher Ray, Jr.; three faithful dogs, Buddy, Sport and Maggie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 PM from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Veterans Honors. Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the South Carolina Summary Court Judges Association.
