S/O William Elmore Rowell & Stella Bates Rowell. He served in the U. S. Army in the European Theatre in World War II. He moved to St. Matthews in 1947 & served two terms as sheriff of Calhoun County. He was a motor fuel tax auditor with the SC Dept of Revenue until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church & served as a former deacon, trustee & Training Union Director. He was a member of the R. E. Gressette Sunday School Class. He was designated a Life Member of Izlar Masonic Lodge #177 in 1993.
