Although Bennie wasn't the smartest cat in the world Mr. Lincoln taught him two step cleaning in order to groom his face and ears.
He was incredibly entertaining, while watching golf on weekend afternoons he would get on top of TV and lay down in order to reach over and try to get the golf balls. Living in south Texas where bug are abundant, one night Bennie saw a bug in the hallway and took chase, after that he would go on duty nightly at 8:00 in the hallway in search of "bugies".
While painting the front bedroom with some friend we decided to take a break and went to the kitchen for some cold lemonade, we heard the loudest meow possible (almost a scream) coming from the bedroom, running into the room poor Benson was on the top of the ladder and was unable to get down. He liked to get on top of the refrigerator and jump down as I entered the kitchen. I must admit the first couple of times he got me but after that I just watched for the leap.
Laser pointers were of utmost entertainment, using the laser around of the floor and walls Bennie would chase the light until exhausted or I stopped. Lincoln and Eleanor learned rather quickly that I was in charge of the light.
He was a sweet boy and is missed.
