Jeffy was our first stray cat we took in and called our own. He would hang on the horse farm behind our home in Mishawaka, Indiana. Our parents insisted we could not let him in until one rainy very day we pleaded and our soft-hearted Dad gave in and let him in. We were so happy. Jeffy was a calico angora beautiful cat. Sadly, he disappeared forever when we took a 2 week family vacation out west. We missed him terribly.

A poem was written and published about Jeffy on page 84 in "A C.L.I.P. of Poems (ISBN: 9781420811278)" by Janet Elliott Hughey, his owner:

"Jeffy >(^,,^)<"

Once we had a kitty his 'real name was 2 Thess.'
but 'twas a lot to call him so we shortened it to 'Jeff."
He wandered 'round the bushes--not knowing whence he came --
Marilynn said, 'Won't you take him?' So we gave him a Bible name.

Our goal: To keep him outdoors until the day of a storm;
He mewed while pleading at us to come in where it was warm.
He wasn't quite a 'grown-up,' but such a pretty cat;
If God had given 'man' tails, I'd want one just like that.

His tail was long and fluffy, with white, and black, and brown;
His body was so pretty e'en when he'd smile or frown.
While we were on a long trip, we missed our pussy cat;
We'd see signs like 'Jefferson,' or others just like that.

We asked a friend to make us a ceramic reproduction;
we have him now in china---a similar reconstruction."
