2 Men Found Dead Here at Greenhouse Sunday, Today.
Two men were found dead Sunday night and this morning at Erickson greenhouse on S. Duff. Story county and Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigation authorities are investigating.
Lester Erickson, 51, S. Duff was found dead this morning when authorities entered his greenhouse.A post-mortem has been ordered by Story county coroner Dr. A.N.Schanche.
Story county Sheriff Ivan Shalley and deputy John Stark arrived at the greenhouse at 10:30-11:00 to investigate the death Sunday night of Ronald Abbott, Ames airman. They found the place locked and a note on the door saying "To Des Moines for Flowers". Seeing his car still there they investigated and saw Erickson lying in an alley way still alive since he answered their calls.
Shelley and Stark went to get the family doctor. Upon return with him, Erickson was dead.
Erickson was at bachelor living alone at the greenhouse.
Authorities had gone to the greenhouse to investigate the death of A-B Ronald Abbott, 23 (?) 613 Sixth. Abbott, home on leave from Ellsworth Air Force Base Rapid City, S.D., was found dead Sunday night at the greenhouse. He was found by his father, Emmett.
Dr Schanche said today "some peculiar" aspects were involved in Abbott's death. He said Abbott had been drinking with Erickson, but refused to comment on the cause of death.
Results of a port-mortem examination of Abbott's body are expected Wednesday. Schanche says he will not rule on cause of death at that time.
Airman Abbott had been in service for seven years and had served in Japan and Korea for 4 1/2 years.
He was born April 13, 1930 in Waterloo. He attended Ames public schools.
Burial service will be Wednesday ___ at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Ryan in charge. Burial will be in the Catholic section of municipal cemetery.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett H. Abbott…(the rest is unreadable. This article has been difficult to read because of light print.)

**note:
The death record states the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. Contributory finding was alcholism.
