Uncle Leslie was born the second of seven children to Edward Joseph Gilpin and Mary Lillian Courtney when Oklahoma was still Indian Territory. He was the h/o Lula Vandaveer and the father of two children, Leslie Jr., also buried in this cemetery and Helen Ruth.
In his youth he lived in Asher, OK. In his teens he and his brothers played baseball with a team that traveled all around Oklahoma. Their sister, Mae, told me they were all three pretty good at it.
He served in the Army in France during WW1.

Uncle Leslie was a railroad man most of his life. He was a wonderful, kind, gentle man.
