Those that say a cat is just a cat must have never met my cat Limpy, she was truely one of a kind, once in a lifetime cat, hand picked by God. Limpy had the biggest personality of any cat I have ever known. She came into my life in Nov 2001. My husband was working at a Warehouse and saw a stray female gray tabby cat who lived in the parking lot. She was very friendly to everyone she met and loved to be petted ,soon she became the mascot of the lot. My husband started feeding her out by his truck for several months. He named her Limpy because of her broken leg that had grown back crooked and made her have a bad limp. Every morning Limpy would hobble across the busy lot when she saw Larry's truck , rain, snow, wind or cold, would never stop Limpy. We never found out where Limpy came from, we guessed that she was 2 years old when we found her. Limpy was seen playing with a couple of kittens we thought were hers, but they were too ferel to catch.Limpy spent her days drinking dirty water from a car wash next door and sometimes ate scraps of food from a near by garbage can. One day after nearly getting hit by a tractor trailer truck, my husband decided to take her home to become part of our family. Limpy's true story was featured in a local newspaper in 2004.

It took Limpy several months to adjust to her new life. She was very "street tough" and didn't trust our cats , Thumpy , Blaze ,and Dunkin.Limpy became a bit of a bully and even chased our dog Ringo and nipped his ear when they first met. They eventually became friends, but the cats were always a little cautious of Limpy. Limpy had such a fearless tough side, she once ran off two of our neighbors dogs when they wondered on the property. She ran after them biteing one on the ear before they could get away. Limpy followed us constantly and always enjoyed meeting new people. She liked to give us love bites on the nose. With lots of love, positive support and constant praise ,Limpy became very loving and gentle. She soon won over our hearts and became a pampered house cat. Limpy especially enjoyed having her human hold her food plate as she ate, it must have made her feel more special. She also had the most amazing sensitive motherly side to her personality. When our cat Thumpy became sick with cancer , Limpy set with her for hours and after Thumpy passed, she slept on my head for 3 weeks, never wanting to leave my side if she saw me cry. Her heart was so huge that when our dog Ringo also became ill in the summer of 2010. Limpy also sat with him for hours and gave him lick baths until his passing in Sept.

We had lost so many animals to cancer early, we bought Limpy the best natural foods and supplements we could afford. Along with daily organic chicken and nightly body massage and hand feedings. Limpy seemed to be thriveing for years. Limpy's only health problem was bad teeth and gums, we thought this was due to her time in the parking lot. She had 3 surgeries to remove teeth over the years and the last one in 2006 , Limpy caught a nasty cat flu at the vets office. We had to dropper feed her for 3 weeks until her nose became unstopped. The cruel and senseless circumstances of her death will forever be unresolved. In Nov of 2010 Limpy suddenly lost her appetite. Her teeth were very rotten, so we took her to the vet to have the 6 remaining teeth removed. Limpy came home from surgery and seemed fine, she was back to eatting and her mouth was healing wonderfully, when suddenly 2 weeks after surgery she stopped eatting again. The so called "vets" did a xray and found fluid in her heart and lung area. They drained Fluid 2 times. Didn't offer us any treatment options other than antibiotics. All test were "inconcusive". With in days Limpys body went down hill. God called her home wrapped in a warm blanket with lots of hugs and kisses. Tuesday Dec 14th at 7pm. It is completely devasting to lose our little girl this way, In my heart I think the surgery was just to much for her , as I read alot of cats get this fluid shortly after teeth surgery. We wish we had not opted for the tooth surgery, if we had known how dangerous it could be.

UPDATE: I have recently found out that a dangerous pain medication injection Limpy was given called "Metacam" is linked to many serious side effects including kidney failure and sudden death. Be sure to ask questions and be informed about Metacam before letting a vet give this to your cat or dog. Limpy's story is posted on The FDA has sent out many warnings about this drug, but many vets continue to play with fire as in Limpy's case. I hope at some point metacam will be taken off the market and vets will become more aware of the dangerous side effects that many pharmaceutical drugs have on pets. Limpy paid the ultimate price for the vets careless decision.

Limpy was such a huge light for us. our hearts are broken.Limpy was my best friend at many lonely times in my life. We thank God for giving her to us. We love you forever Limpy , we'll see you in heaven.

Because of Limpy's outgoing and winsome personality, she had many nicknames over the years. "Little Willow", "Willow", "Willowker", "Bumbles", "Goober Girl", "Teeter Jones", "Woo Woo", "Baby La La", "Sunshine Kitty", "Rainbow Kitty", "Limpaboro", etc.. The song "Little Willow" came along after she was given the nickname, it happens to tell Limpy's story perfectly. We often sang it to her and she enjoyed it as if she knew it had been written for her...

Bend, Little Willow
Wind's gonna blow you
Hard and cold tonight

Life, as it happens
Nobody warns you
Willow, hold on tight

Nothing's gonna shake your love
Take your love away
No one's out to brake your heart
It only seems that way..hey

Sleep, little willow
Peace Gonna follow
Time will heal your wounds

Grow to the heavens
Now and Forever
Always came too soon

Little Willow

Nothing's gonna shake your love
Take your love away
No one's out to break your heart
It only seems that way...hey

"Yet what we suffer now it's nothing compared to the glory he will give us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against it's will, everything on earth was subjected to God's curse. ALL CREATION anticipates the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay." ROMANS 8:18-22
