Bill was a drum major in the marching band at Inglewood High School. As a young adult, he worked in the movie industry as an extra for many years before getting into hairdressing in Hollywood. He eventually opened a salon in the city of Santa Barbara, California were he lived for many years. In later years, he had moved out to the desert community of Morongo Valley.

He never married or had any children.

He suffered a stroke around 1990 and was a semi-invalid. His home was severely damaged by the Landers Earthquake (magnitude 7.3) in 1992. He then lived in Gardena, being cared for by his sister Rosella until he passed away.
